**Job Summary**
- The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University is a small research-intensive campus located in Truro, NS. Offering technical, undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, environment and related life and social science disciplines, the Faculty of Agriculture educates future leaders and generates knowledge and innovative solutions for healthy, sustainable societies. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of administrative activities in the Department of Business &
Social Sciences, serving as a resource person to faculty, staff and students on academic, financial, and administrative matters within the Department.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Monitor monthly expenditures, investigating and advising on variances and issues. Assist with budget preparation and quarterly reviews. Ensure cost recovery of research related expenses to departmental accounts and advise researchers on grant/contract account procedures.
- Support recruitment, new hire, and tenure and promotion processes, including booking meetings and travel, preparing postings and a wide range of documentation including payroll forms and dossiers. As required, advise researchers regarding policy and procedures for hiring and employing grant/contract funded employees.
- Prepare payroll documentation and ensure the accurate and timely submission of student, staff and CUPE payroll.
- Support the Chair and the Coordinator, Curriculum and Communications in academic administrative matters including the annual academic work plan, academic timetabling, and academic calendar submissions.
- Report building maintenance issues and coordinate repair work. Assist the Chair in managing space allocations and in issues related to building security. Maintain key inventory in the Department and manage building access including during off hour entry.
**Note**
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

**Required Qualifications**
- Business/Office Administration Diploma plus approximately three to five years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while working independently.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite and the demonstrated ability to learn new programs.
