**Position Summary and Duties**
The Animal Resource Centre **Animal Care Worker** will help with all wash up activity will need to be processed in KDT ARC site. A Class G Drivers license is mandatory. Experience driving larger vehicles such as cube van and trucks preferred. This role is not involved in any direct animal husbandry. It provides support to animal care.

**The principal responsibilities include**:
The principal responsibilities include:
- Moving heavy racks loaded with equipment on and off department truck and transporting to another site for sterilization.
Other duties include:
- Receiving and preparing soiled cages and other equipment, for washing, sanitizing and/or sterilization
- Preparing cages and equipment for delivery to animal rooms after washing
- Receiving and putting away supplies
- Performing cage set up and autoclaving
- Performing routine cleaning activities of the clean and dirty wash up areas
- Ensuring quality control measures are carried out, according to established standards
- Performing routine machine maintenance
- Performing cross-functional and other duties as assigned and/or required.
**Qualifications**
- At minimum completion of high school or recognized equivalent required
- Class G Drivers license required
- Post-secondary certificate program in a Sterile Supply Process course an asset
- Knowledge of general machinery in a laboratory animal facility an asset
- 6 months practical and related experience
- Must not be allergic to rodents
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health &
Safety Act and other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.)
- Knowledge of autoclave technology an asset
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
