This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the General Manager providing assistance to our local operations team and territory-wide operations.
Area Manager - Job Description
The Area Manager role is a hands-on position that requires a thorough knowledge of Whitehorse and smaller towns we serve throughout the territory. The primary business at Standard Bus is school busing, with the addition of charter work and employee transportation. Principal duties and responsibilities include:
All aspects of managing staff including the internal and external postings, recruitment, and hiring of staff as well as leading the discipline process when required
Supervise and delegateresponsibilities of personnel in the most equitable and efficient manner
Process final approvals of bi-weekly payroll
Assist Operations Supervisor with driver performance issues, discipline and performance improvement reviews
Support when required with monthly safety meetings
Represent all personnel by participating in Driver's Committee meetings
Handle public and driver inquiries, hostile or complimentary, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
Manage the Operations Team whilst providing support and oversight of all staffing areas
Work closely with the Transportation Team in managing escalated incidents reported by the Operations Team
Review and approve monthly billing
Work closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure adequate numbers and sizes of units are available to cover all routes
Budget preparation, review and compliance
Review and revise job descriptions as required

**Requirements**:
School Bus industry or transportation experience preferred
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience (management experience preferred)
Exceptional organizational, analytic problem solving, and diplomacy skills
Ability to communicate well with Standard Bus staff and external organizations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Class 2 driver's license considered an asset
