- **The Basic Gist**:
_
The Bar Manager works under the direction of The Assistant General Manager to ensure the operational success of the bar area of The Mule. The Bar Manager is responsible for ensuring The Mule’s bar is always welcoming, competently staffed, and is providing a variety of unique and tasty options for the thirsty masses of Cambridge.
- **The Job**:
_
- Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating with suppliers, taking inventory and ordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals.
- Act as the boss in the absence of The Mule’s General Manager &
Assistant General Manager, ensure proper front-of-house supervision at all times, and handle any and all complaints or issues that arise.
- Participate in the hiring of all bar staff including bartenders and bar-backs, and facilitate the training of all bar staff to ensure development and growth continuously occurs.
- Creatively guide and grow the bar program of The Mule by continuously evolving the bar menu, in conjunction with the bar staff.
- Provide input on effective scheduling to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
- Ensure high standards of quality and consistency are met at all times.
- Ensure licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.
- Coordinate special events in conjunction with The Mule’s General Manager and The Other Bird’s Sales Team.
- Maintain a fun, safe atmosphere for all guests and staff.
- Attend meetings, including Other Bird managers meetings, Mule managers meetings, and regular staff meetings.
- Be familiar with the management staff of all Other Bird outlets;
collaborate on staffing, events, and overall communication.
- **How Much Work &
When**:

- 44 hours per week
- Must be able to balance weekly schedule based on business needs.
- Must be able to adjust hours for administrative, social, or other needs outside normal business hours.
- We don’t want you to over-work, and we don’t want you to under-work. We just expect you to manage your time.
- **Your Bosses Are**:

- The Mule Cambridge's Assistant General Manager
- **Ideally, You Have Experience / Education**:
_
- 5+ years of restaurant bartending experience is required, with expertise working with craft beer &
craft cocktails, is required.
- 1+ years Front-of-House restaurant management experience is required.
- Post-secondary education in hospitality or restaurant management will be an asset.
- Ontario Smart Serve Certification is required.
