Join a transforming business - we are a medium-sized Canadian company in a stable industry which is rapidly transforming.Play an integral role - this is an opportunity that allows for you to grow your skills, while directly contributing to the business unit you are a part of.Hone your skills - this is an opportunity that allows for you to grow your technical, and functional skills.What you’ll be working onUse statistical tools to perform complex data manipulations and provide reports that enable management to drive increases in sales, revenue, and profitabilityProvide reports to management that contain key metrics to enable sound decision making that meet customer service commitmentsDevelop complex models for reporting key business metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement, including spreadsheets, machine learning, and visualization solutionsAct as liaison with IT to assess business needs and business risk, and conduct analysis to support the Divisional portfolio of strategic and business initiatives, system projects and maintenance workProvide operational business intelligence, fact-finding, diagnostics and data mining;
compile data requirements and make recommendations for change and conversionProvide training to team members;
promote data literacy within the organizationDevelop consistent and standardized methods of collecting and reporting informationEnsure quality delivery and implementation of end user applications and associated process changes with appropriate communication for integration into business unit operations Other duties as assignedWhat we’re looking for you to have3+ years relevant work experience Completion of University degree with courses in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and AccessAdvanced skills in programming SQL, Python, C++Knowledge of Business intelligence tools (e.G. Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire)Knowledge of the Insurance business:
processes, systems, data sources, customers, products, channels, regulations, competition, industry trendsKnowledge of statistical principles and machine learning conceptsWell-developed analytical, evaluation, decision making and problem resolution skillsAttention to detail/accuracyWell-developed communication, negotiation, persuasion and/or presentation skills to a variety of stakeholdersAbility to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projectsIf you are applying for a position which is open to applicants across Canada, unless otherwise indicated in the position, language proficiency in English is required for communicating with customers, advisors, or employees across Canada.Beyond the salaryFor regular full-time positions, Empire Life offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes:
