Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community. We are looking to hire someone in the role of Business Coordinator to work collaboratively with the Bandology team to provide administrative office functions supporting the business and our products and services.
About the Job:
- Responsible for business processes and procedures
- Develop policies and procedures for the organization at large as well as for programming
- Create a set of procedures, policies and timelines for ongoing business development work including key milestones leading to organizational expansion (ex. strategic plan, operational plan, new project ideas, outreach strategies)
- Manage staff meetings, set agendas and take minutes
- Handles hiring and onboarding of new staff
- Handle any potential training of staff and board
- Work with external suppliers as well as on expanding our existing network
- Review, monitor and update the website as needed
- Manage registrations, payments and paperwork regarding camps, workshops and parties as well as respond to requests for information and other admin work
- Participate in three weeks of Band Camp in July and ensure that all campers have a fun and fulfilling experience
About You:
- Enrolled or graduated from a post-secondary program specializing in business, management, marketing or similar
- 2-5 years direct experience working in business management and administration, preferably for a non-profit, either paid or volunteer
- Excellent writing, research and interviewing skills, and ability to follow a style guide
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to use compassion and tact when dealing with campers/participants, parents and other community members
- Comfortable with public speaking, both in person and online
- Comfortable working independently from your own personal space (Bandology is a virtual office) with regular in-person meetings and events (as appropriate) with access to your own computer with reliable internet connection
- Experience with Google suite of programs, social media and public speaking
- A wide base of transferable skills including organization, time management, self regulation, collaboration and leadership
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team
- Creativity - new ideas are welcomed at Bandology!
- A background in instrumental music, whether from music class, piano lessons or personal interest would be useful
- A passion for music and a belief in the long-term value of music education would be useful
- Camp experience, either as a camper or counsellor, would be useful
About Us:
- In addition to working with the staff team, staff may work closely with Board members from diverse backgrounds with varied experience who provide mentorship
- Remote work utilizing a central Google drive for files and regular Zoom meetings. We host an outdoors in-person meeting each week in Oakville
- An extensive onboarding program during the first week to learn about the organization, processes and procedures, and our culture
- A flexible work environment where you can set your own hours
- All staff work together collaboratively during Band Camp weeks, (July 10-14, 17-21 and 24-28) and are expected to attend in person for the full week
Job Details:
With funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program, this position runs for 16 weeks from May 8 to August 25 for 35 hours per week at a rate of $15.50/hour. Bandology reimburses staff for any approved expenses or mileage and offers flexible working hours, professional development and training, and a lively, congenial working atmosphere.
