**Basic Purpose of Position**:
- Supervise Line Pilots and/or Line Operations Managers to support the operation in a specific region. Liaise with other departments and outside parties pertinent to daily operations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Monitor Flight Operations reports and take appropriate action as required.
- Oversee flight operations irregularity reports, questions, and concerns in a timely manner.
- Oversee daily operations of flight crew and provide guidance on day to day issues as well as incidents and emergencies.
- Ensure corrective action is taken where applicable.
- On a rotation basis, be available as an “On-Call Manager” during a 24 hour/7 day coverage.
- Conduct line flying, where possible, to maintain management visibility and availability.
- Maintain competency and technical knowledge as well as skills that demonstrate a high level of professional standard for a Senior Pilot Manager.
- Provide support, coaching, and feedback to:
- Line Operations Managers;
- Line Pilots;
- Base Administrators.
- Oversee compliance with the collective agreement and provide interpretation and guidance of collective agreement language.
- Participate in meetings with local union representatives on possible grievances and disciplinary meetings.
- Write Flight Ops memos to flight crew dealing with operational issues within the region.
- Quality Assurance of operational documents including memos, collective agreement, FOCM, FOIPM and COM.
- Establish and maintain a distribution system, ensuring irregularity reports and related flight operations are disseminated to the applicable departments for action.
- Deal with issues relating to the scheduling of Flight crews, such as crew rest, release from duty, CARs requirements, and contractual requirements.
- Liaise with crew scheduling on all issues related to the scheduling of Pilots.
- Responsible for all payroll-related issues which include status changes, leaves of absences, medical leaves, pay.
- Ensure all notices, bulletins and publications are distributed to the flight crew in a timely and effective manner.
- Liaise with the local airport authority and air traffic services on issues pertinent to daily operations.
- Liaise with local Airport Manager(s) on issues related to flight crew facilities, ramp procedures, ground icing, radio communications, etc.
- Report any unusual conditions or operational irregularities to Director, Flight Operations.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection process for Pilot hiring.
**Qualifications**:
- Must have an Airline Transport Pilot License.
- Past supervisory/management experience is required.
- Previous Line pilot experience is required.
- Type rating on one type of aircraft operated by Jazz is an asset.
- Approved Check Pilot, A or B authority is an asset.
- An Aviation Management Degree or Diploma is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
- Experience using CrewTrac, CrewQual, QPulse is considered an asset.
- Emergency Response Training (including blood borne pathogens) is an asset.
- Labour relations training.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English (oral and written) is required.
