GlassHouse Botanics Inc, a licensed Cannabis producer, is looking to hire a Cultivation Technician. Working under the direction of the Cultivation Assistant Team Lead, the Cultivation Technician will be performing tasks at different stages of the growing process from seed to harvest including plant maintenance, propagation, transfers, transplants, watering, feeding, harvest, sanitation, etc.
**Duties include but are not limited to**:
- Sanitation activities, cleaning of rooms, tools and other materials.
- Support with cultivation related tasks such as plant movement, pruning, transplanting, inspection, watering and fertigation, defoliation, trellis installation, harvest.
- Promote sanitary practices and good housekeeping.
- Monitor facility systems and report any issues to Team Lead.
- Participate in the continuous monitoring of the plants to ensure proper health and productivity at the discretion of the Team Lead.
- Communicate and escalate all issues with plants and/or production process and stock to all the relevant parties as required.
- Observe and ensure all stages of cannabis operations are conducted in a sanitary manner.
- Report promptly any possible deviations from procedures to Cultivation Assistant Team Lead.
- Inventory of plants as required.
- Maintain records of completed tasks to ensure traceability and compliance with company’s procedures and regulations.
- Calibrate, verify, and operate production equipment as required (e.G., scales, foamer, pressure washer, scales).
- Follow and enforce all regulatory requirements and guidelines of current and future markets as well as GlassHouse Botanics Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support the Assistant Team Lead to help manage plant scheduling and organization to accurately plan daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
- Follow established quality and production procedures as well as health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support other departments as needed
- Worked with plants and understand plant structure and basic plant biology an asset.
- Understanding of cloning, seed propagation and genetics is an asset.
- Strong ability to learn new techniques and follow direction.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computers.
- Ability to document activities.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read, understand and follow the Cannabis Regulations and GlassHouse Botanics’ procedures.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Horticultural program or bachelor’s degree in agriculture sciences is an asset, but not required.
- Experience within the industry and/or greenhouse environment is an asset.
**Conditions of employment**:
All applicants being considered for employment will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to hire. Initial screening (Medical examination) of staff may be required. Annual examination may be required annually thereafter.
**Job Specific Demands**:
Applicants must be fit and able to lift 50 lbs comfortably. Applicants must be flexible to work variable shifts and have reliable transportation. Hours are full time but may include weekends or evenings, depending on production needs. Some tasks require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
**Our Environment**:
Plants like heat and humidity. To be successful in this position you need to be comfortable working in an enclosed environment with high heat and humidity, wear protective clothing, hair covering and other Personal Protective Equipment.
**Wage and Benefits**:
$18.00 to start, full benefits after three months. Wage increases will be considered on a yearly or a performance basis.
