**What are we looking for?**
As a member of the Supply team, the Manager, Distribution Centre’s purpose is to plan, direct and coordinate transportation, storage and distribution activities in accordance with organizational policies and standard operating procedures, with a goal of operating efficiently and effectively while meeting all service promises to the customer. The Distribution Centre Manager will be working with a team of 6-10 staff that work in 2, daytime shifts. Duties and responsibilities will include:
**Role**
- Manage the operation of the distribution center by ensuring resources are in place and processes are being executed effectively to:
- Ship product accurately and on time based on commitments
- Receive product accurately and on time so the product is available for order fulfillment as soon as possible;
- Respond to any shipping discrepancies in a timely manner based on service level commitments;
- Management and leadership of the Customer Service function and Distribution Centre teams through effective performance management and daily mentorship.
- Inventory Control
- Manage inventory levels for accuracy from a physical vs system perspective;
- Ensure efficient storage of the physical inventory at the distribution center;
- Complete quarterly inventory of the entire warehouse
- Manage all processes related to the transportation and on-time delivery of goods to customers with a goal to minimize expenses
- Resolve escalated distribution issues with the customer.
- Manage all processes related to employees, including creating a metrics system, and maintaining positive employee relations.
- Responsible for growing and developing a progressive team through industry and career focused Learning and Development, ongoing performance feedback and open communication.
- Participate through cost analysis and projections in the annual budgeting process.
- Ensure the Program of Safety Excellence is implemented, adhered to and kept current according to the program and legislated requirements.
**Process Management**
- Design, develop and implement effective distribution and customer service strategies through aligned process improvement initiatives that support the organization’s Balanced Scorecard and financial plans.
- Ensure DC associates understand how their key responsibilities impact these metrics and that they continually work towards achieving metric goals.
- Ensure end to end Distribution Centre processes are completed and adhered to by associates. This includes adherence to inbound and outbound processes as well as standardized operational procedures for the current system.
**KPI’s and Reporting**
- Run designated weekly and /or monthly reports;
analyze, interpret and work through each process concisely.
- Communicate in a timely manner the KPI results to the Director, Warehouse Operations;
ensuring they are clear, empowering to the user and promoting action via linked compensation.
**Innovation**
- Develop and maintain an optimal distribution network focused on flexible, scalable and sustainable processes to deliver the most Effective, Efficient and Reliable service to our customers.
- Proactively identify process improvement initiatives for consideration focused on best practice, improving business processes, reducing complexity and standardization.
- Continually improve warehouse efficiency, and structure.
**What does it take to get on track?**
- Completion of a High School diploma and 5 years customer service experience
- 5 years working in the warehouse/distribution center industry in a leadership role.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Supply Chain Management courses and certificates are considered a strong asset.
- Thorough knowledge of distribution, transportation, and customer service operational procedures.
- Proven ability to lead and work within a team environment;
this includes performance management, coaching and team building skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, organizational and time management skills to prioritize competing demands.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders;
this includes excellentcommunication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
