As part of Kruger Publication Papers division, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited is a quality leader in the manufacture of newsprint and holds the Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification as well as being self-sufficient on energy between Deer Lake Power Generation, Steam Power and Steam Recovery. We aim to be fully reliant on clean energy.OVERVIEWThe Engineering Superintendent is responsible for all capital project planning, budgeting and execution for both Deer Lake Power and Paper Mill divisions within Corner Brook Pulp and Paper. The Engineering Superintendent leads a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, and manages engineering services requests and oversees facility infrastructure management.RESPONSIBILITIESThe candidate will be responsible for the following:
Prepare annual capital plans and budgets to recommend to Senior Management.Lead capital process management from request for appropriation to planning to execution and cost controlProvide prompt response and priority setting of engineering services priorities as requested by mill personnelMaintain infrastructure as required, including but not limited to structural, ventilation and fire systems while Working closely with unionized personnel and contractors as requiredManage the insurance requirements and fire suppression requirementsChampion the execution and documentation of the Management of Change (MOC) process as required.Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Department.This position will be located in Corner Brook, NL.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSThe successful candidate must have:
A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent industrial experience.Minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pulp and paper, however, other combinations of education and experience may be considered.Strong project management background, PMP designation would be considered a strong asset.Pragmatic and cost-efficient decision making skills.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members.Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving ability,is essential.Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Project, CMMS).The Successful candidate must be able to work evening and weekends when required.Why work at Kruger?At Kruger, we believe in giving our employees the space to grow, within a dynamic and stimulating environment, nurturing their development, encouraging their involvement, and enriching their professional lives.
