**Purpose**:
In support of the larger goals of the University Experiential Education Strategic Plan, the Experiential Education Coordinator works independently and has overall responsibility for coordination of academic and operational activities of the Experiential Education (EE) program in the Faculty of Science. Coordination activities includes the design, development, implementation and evaluation of EE initiatives such as:
internships and co-operative education opportunities, in-class experiential activities, community-based and service learning, learning through community partnerships, placement, and practicum opportunities, and other EE activities as required. Under the broad direction of the Associate and Assistant Deans, the EE Coordinator develops university-community partnerships. These partnerships are mutually beneficial and fosters student engagement through linking theory with practice and providing opportunities for hands on experience related to students' areas of study.
**Education**:
University Degree in a related field such as Education, Social Sciences, Science or four years' recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
**Experience**:
Two (2) years' recent-related experience coordinating a post-secondary experiential program, i.E. internship or cooperative education, using a Student Information System and/or similar database/customer relationship management system and student advising.
**Skills**:
- Superior oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate and assimilate complex information.
- Keyboarding 50 wpm.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of web design tools including HTML, FTP
- Demonstrated ability to perform internet searches
- Sound knowledge of experiential education theory and practice
- Proven research and analytical and reporting skills
- Proven success in establishing collaborative partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Excellent track record of building and maintaining business networks and relationships to achieve position/department objectives
- Demonstrated ability to implement improved processes
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills to achieve results
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Work well independently and as a member of a team
- Accuracy and attention to detail. exercising initiative and good judgment.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
