We are seeking a **Finance Manager** to join our team at our headquarters office in Nelson.
The Finance Manager role is a key member of the finance team, reporting to the Director of Finance. The Finance Manager is a supervisory position overseeing finance administrators and assisting others at KCDS to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make our mission, vision and programs a reality. The Finance Manager plays an integral role in the successful operation of KCDS through the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s financial systems, policies and procedures. Working with the Director of Finance (DoF), the Finance Manager helps to ensure all financial systems are meeting project and organizational needs and that information provided is accurate, timely and appropriate.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Financial Activities**
- Oversee all accounting activities and functions including accounts receivable, payable, month-end closing entries, accruals, allocations, and account reconciliations
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as required
- Perform accounting duties including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, preparation of account analysis for variances and anomalies.
- Responsible for management of petty cash across multiple office locations
- Oversee organization-wide inventory including tracking, purchasing, disbursements to multiple office locations, and month-end reconciliation and accompanying journal entries
- Conduct monthly review of client supports claims submissions, remedy any issues and identify and document process gaps
- Serve as primary approver for payment transactions
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly program reporting for management
- Oversee client payroll and all related reporting activity
- Support the Director of Finance in the preparation and coordination of all audit materials as per Auditor requirements
- Maintain accurate records and oversight of leases and insurance
**Leadership Activities**
- Provide leadership to management and staff on operational finance matters
- Lead, support, and supervise accounting staff ensuring high levels of overall performance
- Mentor staff and support professional development for each team member
- Act as lead for operational and technical support of KCDS’ internal accounting software program
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:

- Strong analytical skills;
adept at assisting executive in make decisions that affect KCDS
- Management skills;
Skilled at managing complex financial processes across multiple contracts and contractors
- Excellent communications skills;
able to explain and justify complex financial transactions
- Detail-oriented;
able to prepare, analyze and present reports such as financial statements and budget vs actual variance reports accurately and timely
- Organisational skills;
able to predict, plan, oversee and complete a variety of tasks associated with complex contract management and financial processes in a timely and thorough manner
- Teamwork;
Demonstrated ability tobuild internal and external relationships, work in a team environment and build rapport and trust
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting database software (Intacct preferrable)
- Ability to learn and understand financial structure of all KCDS contracts and agreements
**Education and Experience**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics or business administration preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in financial oversight of human services programs and/or government contracts
- Minimum 2 years of experience supervising staff
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
**Additional requirements**
- Must consent to a Criminal Record Check as required
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Must be prepared to sometimes work outside the regular hours required for the position
