**Job description**
- **RESTAURANT SERVER**We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and mature outgoing server who loves to serve our guests every day. You must be available for morning and dinner service. You will be scheduled approx 20 hours per week. Being a restaurant in a hotel you need to always be prepared for busy periods of service and make good use of your time during slow periods.Your responsibilities include the following:
Greet and welcome guest, seating to achieve guest satisfaction and even distribution of tables to staff.Be familiar with menu, daily offerings and the preparation and presentation of food. Be able to answer guest’s questions and able to “sell” all items on the menu assisting with guest choice as required and achieving or surpassing targeted average spends on food and liquor.Use the computer/pos competently following proper procedures. Take payment including credit card processing and carry your own small float for cash transactions.Check food before serving it to guest to ascertain that appearance, temperature and portions are correct.Ensure prompt and professional clearing and resetting of tables in order to maximize on covers and revenues. Clean and prepare dining room for guest service, doing all necessary set-up as required.Follow posted opening and closing procedures, side duties, achieving required standards. This requires thorough cleaning of the restaurant, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and emptying garbage.Answer the telephone promptly and courteously, accepting table reservations, room service/take-out orders and recording/passing on messages in line with property policy.Follow all room service procedures, including preparation of service standards and delivery of meals according to brand standards.Hall checks to be done twice on each shift to collect dirty dishes left by guests.Be certified in the service of alcoholic beverages as required by company policy.Use the glass washer during shift as needed.Assist banqueting department when asked. Be willing and competent in the setting up/service/clearing of food and beverage as applicable to meeting rooms/functions ensuring all items are recorded/chargedMinimize breakage by neat and safe stacking of items at the bussing/ service area or dishwashing area in line with standardsMust have Smart ServeKnowledge of wines, beer and liquor. You must be able to prepare drinks for your guests in absence of bartender.Learn and follow standards for our brand and the loyalty program for guests.Must be neat with proper fitting clothing, professional and conservative appearance.
