**Health &
Safety Coordinator**
**Position Summary**:
Alopex Couriers has an immediate need for a qualified Health &
Safety Coordinator to support its Safety Program. This position requires occasional travel to our various locations throughout Southern British Columbia. **Relationships**:
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Health &
Safety Coordinator is responsible for the administration and coordination of the Company’s safety program. You work collaboratively and supportively with the Safety Committee across the company to help build, maintain, and update Health &
Safety documentation and related systems while championing the proactive and preventative aspects of our Safety Program.
**Accountabilities**:
- Maintain, develop, and review Health &
Safety initiatives, policies, and procedures in accordance with company and government regulations and legislation
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure that Health &
Safety requirements aremet and compliant with governmental legislation
- Maintain and report on Health &
Safety records and statistics
- Identify potentially hazardous situations and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate and participate in incident investigation reports, and corrective actions
- Support with Safety Committee Monthly meetings, Tailgate Safety Talks, and informational awareness sessions
- Support Supervisors and the AWP Representative to ensure the early and safe return to work for injured employees, and work with HR to support accommodation and modified work requirements
- Manage safety document databases to ensure documents, investigations and records are properly managed
**Requirements**:
- A Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health &
Safety or advanced experience with Safety Management is preferred
- Minimum of one year of related work experience and the completion of in-house training courses may substitute for formal education
- An in-depth understanding of Safety Legislation and Regulations
- Excellent organizational skills with a well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to relate to persons at all levels with diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships
**Other Requirements**:
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or better
Clean Driver’s Abstract
Satisfactory Criminal Record
Ability to travel to other Depots (as required and approved)
