**The Opportunity**:
We are hiring General Labourers Seasonal working primarily within the Horticulture department. This position will take direction and be under the supervision of a Crew Leader, Lead/Supervisor. Working alongside Specialized General Labourers, the General Labourers, under supervision, will provide support and operational assistance to various departments within APC as assigned.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Assist in the installation and care for plant material such as perennials, bedding plants, shrubs, bulbs, trees, lawns, etc. by watering, cultivating, staking, pruning/cutting, tilling, edging, and performing similar related activities.
- Assist the Arborists with tree and shrub care maintenance as directed.
- May assist with the unloading, delivery, and planting of floral and plant materials.
- Operate gardening equipment, till, fork and edge beds as required
- Remove debris and weeds from plant beds and surrounding areas.
- Maintain cleanliness within work space areas and assist with cleanup of all tools and equipment.
- Pinch, deadhead and prune plants as directed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
**Required Qualifications and Experience**:
- A high school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Basic technology and computer skills.
- A minimum of two (2) years performing general labour and operational experience.
- Previous experience working in teams and dealing with both internal and external customers.
**Physical Demands and Working Conditions**:
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, working outdoors in all types of weather.
- Must be able to frequently handle heavy loads of up to 45-50 lbs and the ability to push/pull 50-250 lbs. Documentation of physical capacity may be required.
- An interest or experience in horticulture and gardening is an asset.
- Availability to work days and some evenings and weekends as required.
