We are currently seeking a self-motivated **GDS TruTools Product Manager** to fill a position that will be based in our **Mississauga, Ontario **office. The Geological Data Services division utilizes innovative scanning technology and down-hole instrumentation tools to capture detailed geological data from drilled core and chip samples. This valuable orebody knowledge gives mining companies the ability to make timely decisions for more efficient exploration activities.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
As the leader of the survey tool product team, the **GDS TruTools Product Manager** role is key to developing and commercializing new survey technologies and related commercial services.
This role spans many types of activities, from strategic to tactical. The Product Manager should be able to articulate a clear vision for the future of the product, communicate with customers, and lead teams to prioritize and define features that will achieve the most business value. The ability to analyze the market and competitive environment to define a differentiated vision that delivers unique value is critical. Key responsibilities including setting strategy, roadmap, and feature definition.
As a management position, the role also demands the ability to collaborate with executives and other cross-functional leaders to bridge organizational gaps between different functional groups. It also includes marketing, forecasting, and budgeting/budget tracking responsibilities.
The portfolio includes all hardware, software and digital touchpoints related to core orientation, gyro/mag survey and geophysics. This role requires some international travel and schedule flexibility to align with time zones of distributed remote teams and consultants.
**Job Requirements (**include but are not limited to the following)**:
Set Product Vision and Strategy
- Clearly articulate the business value to the product team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release.
- Own the roadmap and prioritize building what matters most to achieve the strategic goals and initiatives behind the product
- Has a clear understanding of what our clients require.
Plan &
Execute Releases
- Defining the release process and coordinate all of the activities required to bring the product to market.
- Bridge gaps between different functions within the company and align all teams involved. Manage dependencies in and across releases to complete release phases and milestones.
Ideation &
Feature Management
- Own the creative process of generating, developing, and curating new ideas to determine which ideas should be promoted into products or features.
- Ensure that feedback and requests are seamlessly integrated into product planning and development processes.
- Define the requirements for each feature and the desired user experience.
- Work closely with engineering on the technical specifications and ensure that teams have all the information needed to deliver a complete product to market
Product Expertise
- Provide deep product expertise needed to lead the organization and make strategic product decisions.
- Analyze market and competitive conditions, laying out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands
Budget and Revenue Responsibility
- Manage product development to deliver products on time to meet on specific P&
L targets (i.E. x2EBITDA) as well as on budget.
- Set pricing and tracks competition for their respective technologies.
