Geotechnical Field Technician

**Role description**:
**Role accountabilities**:
The Geotechnical Field Technician will work with the Construction Team and Project Geotechnical Engineer to complete Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) inspection and testing on the Site.
These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting visual inspection of construction activities to ensure compliance with Construction Drawings and Specifications.
- Conducting in situ density testing on engineered fill material using a portable nuclear gauge.
- Documenting field observations and test results, and writing daily reports.
- Collection of soil samples from the field and submitting to the laboratory for testing;
and Interpretation of laboratory and field test results, presenting results to the Project Team and providing input to help advance construction work forward smoothly and efficiently.
- This role will require strong attention to detail and accuracy, positive attitude an ability to problem solve, good communication, interpersonal and writing skills and a commitment to Health and Safety excellence.
- Willingness to work overtime and working weekends when required, to meet project requirements and possess a high degree of initiative and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize and manage time efficiently to complete tasks. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel is preferred.
Key Requirements:
- Position will require physical exertion such as long periods of standing/walking;
lifting;
recurringbending or similar activities.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Minimum of 5 years in Canada to be able to complete/clear a background check.
- Must have valid Driver's License and ability to get to and from project sites.
**Qualifications &
Experience**:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Post secondary education in related field.
- 1+ years' experience in QA/QC soils testing for geotechnical and/or construction projects. Experience can be gained through a co-op or internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on construction sites.
