The Oaklands Community Associations’ (OCA) Hamilton Park Childcare Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing OCA’s Infant/Toddler full-day daycare program and half-day Preschool Program. They will work collaboratively with the Oaklands Community Association Executive Directors, Management team and staff.
Hours of Work:
This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to
Friday with the exception of statutory holidays and program closures.
Starting Rate of Pay:
$26.00/hour + $4 Government Funded Wage Enhancement Initiative

Qualifications:
- A valid B.C. License to Practice as an Early Childhood Educator
- 3 or more years in senior leadership or management role in a non-profit childcare centre
- Strong understanding of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations Current First Aid/CPR &
clean
CriminalRecords Check
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including ability to work with Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher programs

**Primary Responsibilities**
**Operation, Coordination and Supervision of Child Care Programs**
- Knowledge of Childcare Licensing regulations
- Supervision of registration and admission procedures, maintaining the waitlists, and parent packages
- Communicate and maintain excellent relations with staff, parents, and outside agencies in a professional manner
- Create staff schedule and substitute roster, including contact information;
plan and facilitate staff meetings
- Plan and implement purposeful activities including booking of facilities, transportation and special guests
- Create and distribute monthly activity calendars and newsletters
- Coordinate and purchase all food and supplies required for programs;
oversee responsibility for the care and upkeep of all Centre equipment &
supplies
- Serve asa liaison between staff and Co-Executive Director of Child Care Programs
- Ensure all health &
safety procedures are being followed
- Assist with daily monitoring of children and work in ratio as needed
- Support and mentor practicum student and/or volunteers within program
- Commit to the development, implementation and adherence to all policies and procedures of the OCA
- Other duties as required by the Co-Executive Director or Board of Directors
**Financial Management**
- Billing families for registration and waitlist fees, keeping track of payments due and paid;
responsible for proper billings (Affordable Child Care Benefit, Child Care Operating funds,
Wage Enhancement and Supported Child Care wages).
- Oversee approval of timesheets and payroll for staff
- Research for grant opportunities
- Support in the development of operating budget and keep accurate records of revenue and expenses;
review financial statements on a monthly basis and operate the childcare programs within the approved budget
**Human Resource Management**
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate performance of program staff and volunteers
- Maintain staff files according to Island Health licensing standards
- Manage staff attendance, absenteeism, disciplinary and labor relations issues in a timely manner;
document all incidents requiring corrective action
- Plan and lead staff meetings and staff appreciation events
- Understand Occupational Health and Safety standards and promote safety in the workplace
- Provide team leadership, motivation, and inspiration to all staff and volunteers
- Meet weekly with OCA Program Managers and monthly with Co-Executive Director regarding childcare programs and inform Executive Director of any problems/issues as soon as possible
