Appleby College’s Summer Camps**
Appleby College Camp Programs are accredited by the Ontario Camps Association (OCA). As a member, we must adhere to the highest standards of safety, supervision, and quality programming.
As a** Head Instructor**, you will be responsible for providing the lead instruction as well as overseeing other instructors and ensuring a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. Applicant should be a post-secondary student or equivalent in a related discipline.
**WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB**:
- Develop, plan, and supervise respective summer camp program
- Create activities that are welcoming to join and inclusive to all abilities and personality types
- Instruct and lead specialized activities with campers and instructors
- Design schedules for activities that allow for the highest quality experience
- Make sure that other programs can be coordinated
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, staff, and visitors
- Follow and ensure camp procedures and policies are always adhered to including Appleby’s Mutual Respect Policy
- Maintain high levels of professionalism and public relations, demonstrating a courteous attitude toward participants, parents, staff, visitors, and parents
**YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU**:
- Have Post-secondary education or a minimum completion of 2nd year
- Provide top-level instruction abilities while promoting self-confidence and awareness in a fun and inspiring setting
- Have experience teaching and/or instructing a variety of cooking techniques, proper food handling, food preparation and presentation, kitchen safety
- Process knowledge in all facets of adapting recipes for allergies, nutrition, and food sensitivities
- Proven teaching &
instructing skills ensuring appropriate balance of “fun”damentals of kitchen safety, and fun creative expression through cooking
- Have related work experience in teaching in similar camp setting or recreation programs an asset
- Demonstrate strong organizational capabilities and be able to host events, art showcases and activities in front of large groups.
- Experience building relationships with staff, campers, and parents/guardians
- Possess team leading abilities (Completion of a leadership program is an asset)
- Are exceptional in verbal and written communication skills
- Possess exquisite time management and organizational skills
- Can demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
- Are able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances
- Have valid Standard First Aid and CPR - C (certified on, or after Sept. 2022)
- Make yourself available to attend the required training session in the evening on from **May 31 - June 2, 2024;
Camp Set up Day &
Camp Family BBQ:
Saturday June 15, 2024**
- Obtain Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding would be considered an asset
