**Job description**:
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy and light mobile equipment in a safe, efficient manner according to established practices, procedures, and Refinery operations guidelines.
**Job responsibilities**:
- Perform required inspections of all mobile equipment and complete all necessary documentation
- Competently sets up and operates various types of hoisting equipment as well as other light mobile equipment (i.E. fuel truck, stake truck, load lugger and straddle buggy)
- Secure proper work permits to perform the tasks
- Participate in pre-job meetings as required
- Visually inspect the immediate and surrounding job site prior to beginning the job
- Position equipment to utilize best sight lines, solid footings, and minimize risk of lift
- Perform "
Dry-run(s)"
as necessary to check accuracy of estimates, utilizing time efficiently
- Ensure loads are properly rigged and competent signalmen are in place
- Transport equipment in a safe &
secure manner so as to minimize risk to load and surroundings
- Perform minor maintenance lubrication on equipment
- Knowledgeable of maintenance requirements for each piece of equipment
- Spot-check contractor equipment operators for proper safety/ operating practices
- Accountable for the safe/correct operation of all heavy and light mobile equipment while in his/her use
- Completion of daily logbook and reporting deficiencies for repair
- Performing duties according to current standards set out by Refinery Management and Ministry of Labor

**Qualifications**:
**Academic**:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent in Math, Physics and Chemistry
- 339A - Hoisting Engineer Mobile Crane Operator 1
**Other**:
- Valid "
DZ"
Driver’s License
- Experienced in operating carry decks, boom trucks, RT’s and AT’s
- Sound working/technical knowledge of safe rigging practices
- Working knowledge of plant safety regulations/practices
- Ability to read, understand and clearly communicate with others
- Capable of climbing, lifting, sitting for long periods of time, and performing other physical aspects of the job
- Ability to concentrate and react safely under stressful conditions.
