**Fall/ Winter position **- We are looking for a creative, organized, and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in heritage, food and farming, a passion for community development and a desire to build up their management skills. The Food and Farms program Coordinator provides food, farm &
heritage crafts and activities for all ages, assists with weekly markets and food programs and helps build community knowledge and awareness.
This position is dependent on funding from Young Canada Works, as such it is only available to those who:
- Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- Will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment;
- Have been a part-time or full-time high school, college, CEGEP, or university student in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment;
and
- Intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment.
**Farm Programs **duties will include**:
- Develop &
lead regular food, farm&
heritage crafts and activities for all ages
- Assist with food programs
- Liaise with farmers, food producers, community organizations and artisans
- Lead a Youth Leadership camp or children’s camp
- Supervise &
provide support to volunteers &
LIT
**HeritagePrograms duties **will include**:
- Continue the development of a farm and heritage skills database
- Improve heritage and art displays
- Organize and assist with regular events &
activities
- Promotion, advertising, marketing &
public relations
- General office administration
- Carry out additional duties as required
**Preferred skills and knowledge**:
- Experience developing and leading food or skills related activities.
- Interest or knowledge in heritage, rural or farm life skills and culture.
- Good communication (verbal and written), customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local activities, resources and community groups
- Working towards a degree in Agriculture, Management, Business, Tourism, Community Development
- Foodsafe (preferred)
- Current First Aid Training with CPR &
AED
- Current Criminal Records Check
