**Position Summary**
As a member of the Heartland Housing Foundation (HHF) frontline team, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in accordance with well-established standards and guidelines in the facility/building to which it is assigned. With various positions that operate 24/7/365, it will primarily perform cleaning activities in common areas, resident rooms, administrative offices, operational spaces, etc. which promote sanitary conditions and prevent the spread of infection and odours. This role is physically demanding from operating various pieces of equipment such as carpet cleaners, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling and working with chemicals.
**Responsibilities**
**Housekeeping Responsibilities**
- Responsible for ensuring all common areas, administrative areas and resident rooms are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and polished as per HHF set cleaning schedule, task lists and guidelines
- Perform laundry duties such as wash, dry, fold and put away required linens
- Monitor and replenish the appropriate stock of toilet paper, soap, paper towels, hand sanitizer and cleaning products
**Operational/Administrative Responsibilities**
- Respond in an appropriate manner to resident and building alarms and emergencies
- Provide general building security, including security checks, arming/disarming doors, and answering phone calls after hours
- Be an active member of the Housekeeping team by communicating daily with the team and the Assistant Manager of Operations, regarding day-to-day housekeeping operations, deficiencies, efficiencies, faulty equipment, the requirement of tools and supplies needed for the department
**Health, Safety and Environmental Stewardship**
- Participate and contribute to the success of the overall safety program
- Support and abide by all safety management systems and promote a safety culture throughout the organization
- Respond to pendent alarms and emergency situations as they arise, providing appropriate follow-up and documentation as required
- Use lock out procedures or “out of order” signage and report issues and concerns to maintenance and management as required
- Adhere to all manufacturer guidelines and safe work practices when using equipment
- Use Personal Protective Equipment and follow universal precautions
- Participate in worksite inspections, health &
safety meetings and committees as required
- Contribute to the organization’s commitment to improving its impact on the environment through day-to-day operations and seeking innovative ways to be a greener organization
Undertake the performance of other assigned duties, including those specified on Job Task Lists, as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager
**Requirements**:
- High School Diploma is preferred
- One (1) year of previous experience in a housekeeping, custodial, etc. environment is preferred
- Strong desire to work with seniors
- Completion of a current and acceptable criminal records check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory
- First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be attained soon after hire
**Working Conditions**
- Ongoing customer service interaction and communication with staff, site residents and visitors
- Ability to work alone during night for hours at a time
- Physical activity involving walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling
- Must be able to lift, push and pull equipment and supplies in accordance with the position’s Physical Demands Analysis document
- Operation of cleaning and laundry equipment is required
- Must handle and work with various cleaning solvents and chemicals
- Occasionally may be required to handle, clean, dispose, or move objects or materials and perform the cleanup of blood, infectious materials and/or other biohazards
- Shifts may change according to organizational needs and occasional overtime may be required
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant or abusive individuals
**Hours**
- 10:
00am - 6:
00pm
- 4 days on 4 days off rotation schedule including weekend and holidays
- 52.5 hours every 2 weeks
