**Scope of Position**:
The Housekeeper shall provide housekeeping and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner, according to the policies and procedures of the Home.
**Employment Terms**:
- $16.50/hr, 22.5 hours per week
- Flexible on days and start times
- Must have the ability to commute to work (17 Genier Street, St. Albert ON)
- Must have a Canadian work permit
- Must be bilingual
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Operates and cleans equipment, furniture and cleans and maintains all areas related to residents as per work routines
- Cleans resident rooms on a weekly basis following the schedule set out by the home
- Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
- Participates as a member of the maintenance team and provides support to the other members of the team
- Projects the appropriate image and focus on customer service in their dealings with residents, families and guests
- Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Provides personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines
- Assists and attends to the needs of the residents as required
- Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
- Other related duties as assigned
**Education/Experience**:
- Previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry services
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
- Must be able to operate related equipment
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items.
