Interim Curator & Collections Manager

Job Description:
The Tumbler Ridge Museum is seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced individual to join our museum team on a short-term contract in the position of Interim Curator and Collections Manager. The Interim Curator and Collections Manager will work with the Executive Director, museum staff, summer students, and volunteers to maintain curatorial practice and collections management during a time of transition. This is a project management-focused position.Responsibilities:
Manage the implementation of a new collections database systemWork with developer through software implementation periodMentor the summer Collections Assistant in the initial database setup and populationMentor the summer Collections Assistant in the development of procedural documentsCoordinate summer fieldwork activitiesEnsure visiting researchers and volunteers have the tools, materials, and safety equipment needed to conduct field workDevelop a coordinated communication system with field teamsDevelop public programming opportunities with visiting researchersOpportunity to participate and contribute to research where applicableManage specimen and artifact acquisition and loansMaintain the collections catalogueAssign accession numbersMaintain recordsAssist in maintaining progress of a major gallery upgrade projectAssist in writing and reviewing RFPsAssist in the development and approval of contractsWork with existing vendors to ensure progress and adherence to established project scheduleRespond to requests for object identification and verification from the public, industry partners and government agencies, coordinate with network of expertsGeneral care and maintenance of the collections and related assetsAssist in the development of best practices, policies, and procedures for the collections as time permitsOther duties as assigned by the Executive DirectorQualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor?s degree in a related field of study:
