**The Company**
**KINGSTON HUMANE SOCIETY**
Reporting to the Animal Programs Manager, the Kennel Attendant is responsible for the daily care, cleaning, and monitoring of the shelter animals and for infection control throughout the shelter.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Clean and sanitize the assigned animal ward(s) as designated and ensure animals receive daily enrichment
Monitor the physical condition and behaviour of assigned animals and record as requiring
General cleaning duties in the shelter
Feed the animals their designated diets (as determined by the Population Manager, Registered
Veterinarian Technician (RVT) or Veterinarian) in the assigned animal ward(s)
Ensure that the proper animal information cards are on each cage and updated as necessary
Clean food dishes and do laundry as required
Ensuring that assigned animals receive the adequate level of daily exercise
Notify the Population Manager of needed supplies
Notify the RVT of a change in an animal's health and/or behaviour and anything else out of the ordinary
Assist with cruelty investigations including consultation, reporting, evidence collection and documentation in conjunction with the Population Manager or Registered Veterinary Technologist
Notify the Staff Trainer or Population Manager of any items not operating properly and/or needing maintenance
Follow all cleaning and disease control procedures and protocols on a consistent basis
Complete all other duties as assigned by the Population Manager
Transportation of animals as required
Assist members of the public who are looking for lost pets
Provide on-call services when necessary
Train, support and supervise volunteers
Support the mission and values of the organization in all interactions with others
**ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Animal care knowledge and experience including strong animal handling skills and comfort working with animals of unknown disposition
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to exhibit professionalism when communicating with all others
Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new software packages as required
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, client service, problem solving and planning skills
Demonstrated ability to work both in a team environment as well as independently
Ability to work variable hours, including evening and weekends as needed ASSET
**Job Types**:
Casual, Permanent, Full-time
**Salary**:
$16.55-$17.00 per hour
