We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Electrical Insulation and Lab Services Department. Under the general
Supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor or delegate, you will provide routine chemical support to activities or processes for
Laboratory clientele. Perform routine and some moderately complex laboratory testing assigned in a thorough, prompt, and
Contributing to the resolution of issues. Assist with the development of laboratory test methods and the modification of existing
Methods. Conduct routine troubleshooting and maintenance associated with assigned laboratory instrumentation. Identify when
Integrity of the data is not within expected parameters. Provide work direction and knowledge-based guidance to junior personnel.
**_ Responsibilities:
_**
- Perform routine and some moderately complex chemical or physical testing in the lab and/or the Generating Stations,
Including field work as required, under general supervision from the Laboratory Supervisor or delegate.
- Prepare samples for analysis as per Chemical Lab Services documented approved methods and under the direction of a Lab
Supervisor or delegate for non-documented methods.
- Perform routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab instrumentation for the methods assigned.
- Perform calculations, data assembly, and test data and report preparation as per adopted methods and practices in the lab.
- Train and provide direction to junior personnel as assigned.
- Prepare reagents, standards, and any other item required for the performance of assigned analyses and ensure they are
- available and not expired.- Collect samples as required.
- Adhere to safety and environmental procedures, rules, and standards.
- Perform sample and inventory login to LIMS as required.
- Perform sampling and analysis or test validation in other test areas in the Brandon, Selkirk, or Waverley Lab as workload
Requires.
**_ Qualifications:
_**
- Two-year diploma in Chemical Technology or Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Chemistry, plus a minimum of one year
Of directly related experience.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge in the theory, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments
Associated with the operation of the laboratory.
- Experience in microscopic analysis would be an asset.
- Must be able to work harmoniously with others.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating both orally and in writing inside and outside the
- Corporation.- Possess demonstrated good judgment, be capable of making decisions, and be able to complete assignments with a
- minimum of direction.- Possess a scientific approach to work, including neatness, thoroughness, and innovativeness with great attention to detail and

- Must be willing to relocate temporarily in accordance with the requirements of the department and to travel as required.

- Ability to adhere to Manitoba Hydro safety and environmental protection principles and safety as it applies to work in a
- chemical laboratory.- Physically able to perform the work, including the field work and work in adverse conditions such as noise, heat, cold, and
- others.- Must possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence with appropriate class.
**NOTE:
Based on the job duties, this position is currently NOT eligible for the Hybrid Work Schedule as per corporate**
**policy.**
**_ Salary Range_**
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $29.05 - $39.45 Hourly,
$55,665.74 - $75,591.36 Annually.
