The City of Edmonton is seeking a skilled and motivated LRV Training Coordinator to join our LRV Fleet Engineering &
Maintenance team! Reporting to the LRT Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, the LRV Training Coordinator will play a crucial role in developing and delivering in-house training plans to meet the training needs of LRV Maintenance personnel.
With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:
- Identify training needs for the LRV maintenance shop personnel in consultation with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop training curriculums;
including course outlines, lesson plans, manuals, visual aids, test and evaluation forms
- Schedules and organizes training sessions
- Delvers in-house training sessions to maintenance staff using training materials and aids
- Supports and encourages the use of technologies to facilitate the sharing of information and best practices
- Maintains records of training conducted, including evaluations of the effectiveness of training programs
- Perform other related duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- Certified Alberta Journeyperson in the trade of Heavy Equipment Technician or Automotive Technician, or provincial equivalent
- Completion of a recognized Certificate in Adult Education
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in various aspects of shop maintenance, such as mechanics, autobody, welding and/or machinist trades
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license or provincial equivalent. Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain an “A” Book Qualification on the LRT Rules and Regulations as well as courses related to shop procedures
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the duties assigned to the position class such as lifting, climbing, operating railway switches and other related work under various weather conditions
- Passing a physical strength evaluation (Functional Ability Recruitment Evaluation test - F.A.R.E.) and a pre-employment City medical examination is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, preferably related to electric or transit vehicles
- Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills. With the ability to schedule milestones for project/program goals and be able to monitor progress in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken
- Proficient in the use of Google Applications including but not limited to Google Sheets, Google Documents, Google Slides, Google Forms, and Google Drive
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (OH&
S, Environmental, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to keep presentations engaging and interesting for diverse audiences
