Accommodation is available, upon request, for candidates participating in the recruitment process.Your Next ChallengeReporting to the Corporate Director, Environment and Operational Risks, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health &
Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.Drive the development of AEM environmental management standards (e.G., Water Stewardship), systems (including RMMS) and best practices across all divisions;
Champion governance andbest practice implementation for the disciplines of Water Management, Mine Waste Management, and Closure at all operations;
Lead the identificationand resolution of environmental performance/compliance issues and technical risks, including but not limited to Water Management, Mine Waste Management (e.G., tailings, waste rock, heap leach facilities), and Closure;
Lead corporate component of investigations of significant environmental incidents;
Direct specialized programs/projects in the disciplines of Environmental Geochemistry (i.E., prediction and management of acid rock drainage and elemental leaching), Water Management, Mine Waste Management, and Closure Planning/Implementation;
Manage non-routine assignments on an as-required basis when special circumstances arise at operations (e.G., leadership role in site working groups to address particular issue site is facing);
Lead strategic planningand communications to senior management (e.G., regarding operational risks and solutions) and stakeholders (e.G., government regulators, local communities, operational teams) relevant to disciplines of Water Management, Mine Waste Management, and Closure at all operations;
Support risk assessmentexercises for critical infrastructure (e.G., Tailings Storage Facilities, Heap Leach Facilities, Water Management Infrastructure, and Waste Rock Storage Facilities);
Contribute to preparation for bi-weekly conference calls, Quarterly Business Reviews, Quarterly Board Packages, Asset Retirement Obligation processes, and other reporting;
Provide subject matter expertise to other AEM teams, as required (e.G., permitting support for Regulatory Affairs or specialized review for Project Evaluations);
Mentor environmental staff across the organization.What You Need To SucceedA Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering in a field related to environment, mining, water management and/or mine waste management;
At least 10 years of experience working in environmental management in the mining industry;
Have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in aspects associated with water management, mine waste management, and mine closure;
Have a good understanding of project permitting processes in Canadian jurisdictions, including environmental assessment, and if possible be familiar with the permitting process in some of the jurisdictions in which Agnico Eagle has activities;
Ability to comprehend technical reports in French is considered an asset;
Demonstrated ability tolead and engage people and teams;
A demonstrated ability to manage projects and to work under pressure;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word &
PowerPoint. Your Work Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from our Corporate Office in Toronto, ON. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
