**WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?**
Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. These responsibilities will be in your domain:
- Support the design, planning, and execution of ecological studies focused on the marine environment, but also other aquatic resources
- Leading and/or conducting marine field programs
- Summarize and analyze data to draw conclusions on environmental conditions and using these results with inference to scientific literature to make defensible conclusions about the status of the environment and the potential effects of anticipated natural and anthropogenic influences
- Support the documentation of these results in written reports and present results to clients, regulators, Indigenous groups and stakeholders as part of regulatory and approval process
- Develop and implement environmental management and contingency plans for work in and around the marine environment
- Develop habitat offsetting plans for backshore, foreshore, intertidal and/or subtidal habitats
- Conducting environmental monitoring to support marine construction
**THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR.**
- B.Sc. in marine science as a minimum
- R.P.Bio. or eligible
- 5+ years of technical experience, consulting experience is an asset
- Excellent technical writing and analytical skills, and ability to produce high quality reports and proposals
- Knowledge of relevant provincial, territorial, and federal environmental legislation, such as the _Fisheries Act_, _Canadian Navigable Waters Act_, BC _Environmental Management Act_, and BC _Environmental Assessment Act_
- Experience with the environmental aspects of marine construction projects
- The following would be considered assets:
- Marine Mammal Observer Training or Certification
- Experience with Drones, ROVs, towed video, or camera surveys
- Experience with Water quality, sediment quality, and/or benthic invertebrate sampling and analyses
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, required to work effectively within teams, with clients, and with regulators
