Alpha Healthcare is looking for Medical Laboratory Assistants to join our team in Welland.
**Job Type**:
Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify completeness and accuracy of OHIP documentation and associated paperwork
- Enter all data from laboratory requisitions into the Laboratory Information System
- Collect quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using skilful
Venipuncture techniques
- Ensure all samples are properly identified, labelled, processed and prepared for
Transportation in accordance with laboratory protocols
- Perform ECGs and Holter hookups
- Handle stat, verbal and special instructions as required in a timely manner
- Create an ideal patient experience and maintain quality metrics.
- Ensure confidential information is protected in a secure manner at all times.
**Requirements**:
- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent, with
Specialized training in phlebotomy
- OSMT certification
- Demonstrated skills in phlebotomy with the ability to manage anxious patients during the
Sample collection process.
- Proficiency in English both written and verbal at a level that enables clear
Communication of instructions to patients.
- Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
- Intermediate level computer skills and demonstrated ability to data enter information
Accurately and efficiently
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, self-manage and multi-task
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative team player
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Commitment to quality and excellence in patient care
