**MORNING KITCHEN SUPERVISOR**
**Edmonton Meals on Wheels is hiring MORNING KITCHEN SUPERVISOR to support the delivery of home cooked meals and/or groceries to some of Edmonton’s most vulnerable.**

We are looking for a **Morning Kitchen Supervisor **to support our mission of providing nutritious meals which provide health, wellbeing independence for Edmontonians.

**The Role**:
Reporting to the Food and Production Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day food production and packaging processes and the daily supervision, support and direction of staff. The supervisor ensures food quality, food preparation and safety, sanitation and cleanliness are in accordance with policies, standards, and Serving Safer Foods Alberta guidelines. The Supervisor also supports kitchen volunteer engagement and task assignment in the absence of the cook.
**Responsibilities**:
- Schedules and oversees daily food production, portioning, packaging, and related kitchen processes ensuring high quality and tasty meals are produced including daily meal and therapeutic diets
- Works in a team effort and supports/coaches other kitchen support staff, filling in shifts as needed.
- Ensures meals produced exceeds client expectations for selection, variety, quality, visual appear and taste. Meals are appropriate for those clients with dietary restrictions.
- Responsible for ensuring therapeutic meal production numbers are available
- Ensures all Serving Food Alberta practices are adhered to
- Assists the Manager with recipe development and menu creation including weekly alternative meals, snacks, desserts and sandwiches
- Evaluates current practices and processes for consistency and efficiency. Encourages staff to strive for continuous improvement
- Supports the Manager and in their absence assumes daily tasks
- Works alongside our volunteers, conducts kitchen orientations, etc.
**Qualifications &
Experience**:
- 5 years cooking experience in a large volume cooking environment
- Progressive supervisory responsibility
- Journeyman Cook mandatory
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Current first aid certification preferred
- Experience with GFS Connect strongly preferred
**MORNING KITCHEN SUPERVISOR**
- Able to fully participate in all kitchen duties in a calm, professional manner
- Physically able to climb stairs, walk, stand for full shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills mandatory.
**Work Environment**:
- Fast paced, quickly changing environment, pleasant and professional
- Up to 10 volunteers per shift from diverse backgrounds supporting kitchen prep and packaging activities
- Great team environment
- Work in refrigeration units regularly
**Hours, Salary &
Benefits**
- Full-time hours with full extended health benefit plan plus RRSP employer contributions
- Monday-Friday excluding statutory holidays 5:
45 am to 1:
45 pm.
- Range $20.00 to $23.00 based on experience
