**Position**:
Quality Assurance Technician
**Location**:
Kitchener, Ontario
**SHIFT**:
- 1 Position Nights (11pm to 7am)
**CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Maintains and makes recommendations on the bakery Quality Management Systems (QMS) programs with a Premier Bakery lens and ensure that product food safety and quality are achieved and meet and exceeds our customers standards.
- Ensures existing programs are up to date and meet all corporate and legislative requirements
- Conducts record reviews and on-site verifications to ensure current operational excellence matching the written program in a timely manner.
- Supports the Development of Food Safety and Quality training, with the QSL and conducts training on food safety and quality requirements for all employees in the bakery.
- Manages product specification verification and documentation, including updating production floor documents to ensure compliance.
- Examines incoming raw materials, process and finished products to make sure they comply with quality and food safety standards
- Verifies packaging operation to ensure correct packaging, labelling, production codes, best before marking and carton labelling
- Conducts sampling of the plant environment and equipment, water, raw materials and finished products for microbiological and/ or analytical testing / sensory evaluation
- Supports Trials/first production approval runs in keeping with compliance to Stage Gate protocols.
- Performs line inspections that may include visual inspection or ATP / Allergen swabbing and equipment release, or CCP verifications.
- Hold of product or ingredient control and disposition
- Monitors schedule for finished product testing and holds, including the use of SAP
- Assists with the maintenance of all HACCP programs
- Accountable for preparation and participation in all internal/ third party/ CFIA and/or FDA audits
- Completes non-conformance reports for any out of compliance situation or food safety incidents and is responsible for follow up on corrective actions for ingredients/packaging and finished products.
- Completes inspections for glass and brittle plastics, pest control,, and overall plant food safety
- Reports and logs analytical test results for each line and ensure compliance to WF and/or customer specifications
- Trends data for foreign object findings and creates risk assessment
- Completes shift reports and audit sheets
- Performs certificate of analysis reviews and data entry and filing
- Trend ATP analysis, swab micro results and investigate out of spec findings.
- Trends critical to quality data using SPC tools (ie:
IPM) to verify product is compliant to specifications.
- Prepares Non Conformance reporting for incoming ingredient or packaging deviations.
**ABOUT YOU**:
- Post secondary in a food safety/ quality related program.
- 1 to 2 years experience in a quality control food manufacturing setting.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong oral and written communication in English
- Ability to partner with all levels of production from Operators to Supervisors
- Flexible and willing to work overtime where required (in busy season)
