**JOB OPENING - OPERATIONS MANAGER, FOR HELPAWS (HELP ANIMAL WELFARE IN SAINT LUCIA)**
Do you have a love for animals? Are you passionate about advocating for the wellness and safety of animals? Do you love adventure and travel? HelpAWS is seeking an Operations Manager to live in St. Lucia and manage the day to day operations of our organization. This is an integral position within our organization which will require dedication, organizational skills, self-motivation, and PASSION. It is also a position which will bring a lot of joy to the right individual, knowing that you’ve had a hand in something so unimaginably rewarding as SAVING LIVES ON A DAILY BASIS!
The sole focus of HelpAWS is to advocate, rehabilitate and rescue dogs (and sometimes cats) on the breathtakingly beautiful Carribbean island of St. Lucia. We are a international foster and adoption based organization with employees and volunteers both on the ground in St. Lucia, as well as within the US and Canada. To date, HelpAWS is responsible for saving, rehabilitating, and finding furever homes for more than 1,00 animals in need. With the help of volunteer veterinarians who fly to the island a few times a year, we are also the proud sponsor and organizer of high volume spay and neuter clinics where more than 3,000 animals on the island have now been sterilized;
greatly affecting the continuous issue of non-altered animals reproducing unwanted and uncared for litters.
**As Operations Manager, daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:
- Rescuing animals that are in danger from around the island and bringing them into our facility
- Ensuring daily feedings, baths, administration of medications, etc. are being done properly and timely to animals within the facility, as needed.
- Organizing and transporting the animals in our care to and from the vet and, when ready, to the airport for their flight to their furever home in US or Canada.
- Ensuring the facility is clean and sanitary for the animals in our care
- Writing posts for social media (Facebook, Instagram) that describe the hardships animals face. Create flyers for events using Canva or Adobe, and/or edit bios for our website to ensure the animals in our care have the necessary exposure to potential adopters so they can find their furever home/family.
- Ensure our internal data system is updated with the status of the animals in our care (vet records, medications, etc)
- Being an advocate for the welfare of animals around the island by checking on animals that have been reported to us, delivering food and medications to locals whose animals are in need, etc.
- As needed, communicating with adoptive families to follow up after adoption, booking flights for the animals, etc. (although we have other volunteers who do this, there may be the occasional need for assistance)
- Brain storm, organize and create from start to finish fundraising activities including raffles, online fundraisers, corporate giving programs etc.
- AND SO MUCH MORE!!
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in their state/country of residence
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must be self-regulated, self-motivated, independent and require little supervision
- Be able to handle a fast-paced work environment, with varying hours.
