**About The Role**:
The operator (Barge &
Rail) will be responsible participating in daily barge &
rail activities assigned by the terminal supervisor. You may be required to perform planned maintenance, plant rounds, operate equipment such as locomotive, marine vessels, perform switching duties, aid in mooring operations and will be required to progress towards SOTO certification within one year of operations start-up.
**Key Activities**:
- Monitor environmental regulations/requirements, and report any non-compliances
- Participate in effective incident reporting and investigations
- Support all aspects of the day-to-day operation.
- Participate in tailgate meetings with your crew, outlining daily activities and hazard mitigations.
- Actively participate in the company’s safety management program, emergency response drills, quality management program and environmental management program.
- Work with the Management team to plan daily operational activities between Wolverine Terminals and various Stakeholders.
- Successfully complete all required operational and safety training programs.
- Adhere to Wolverine Terminals policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all regulatory laws, provisions, and requirements.
- Maintain fit for duty requirement. This is a Safety Critical Position as deemed by Transport Canada
**Requirements**:
- Completion of Secondary School.
- A combination of 2-3 years experience in rail, marine, or oil &
gas field operations
- Class 5 License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Successfully pass all pre-employment screening, including and not limited medical and alcohol &
drug testing as applicable by Wolverine Terminals and / or Transport Canada Marine and Rail.
- Work outdoors for an extended period in adverse weather conditions.
- Work rotating shift patterns, up to and including 12-hour day / nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficient in operating computer-based programs such as Microsoft Office Programs.
- English reading, writing, and speaking.
- Able to lift at least 50lbs.
- Stand, sit, crouch, bend, climb for an extended period.
- Comply with all Safety, Environment, and Security requirements.
- Able to reliably commute to the employers work sites.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment daily.
- May require on-call / after hour availability from time to time.
- Perform assigned duties in emergency drills or events
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Management team
**Preferences for**:
- SVMO Certification.
- SVOP Certification.
- SOTO Certification.
- Marine First Aid.
- ROC-M Certification
- Marine Emergency Duties certification.
- Locomotive and rail switching experience.
- Experience offloading general purpose railcars.
- Marine industry experience, including booming, boat operations, barge operations.
- Experience in oil &
gas field operations
- Experience operating and maintaining plant-based equipment.
Background and reference checks are a condition on employment.
**Salary**:
$60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
