Part-Time Clerk/Cashier

Clarkson PharmaChoice requires a part-time clerk/cashier who is minimum 16 years of age and is able to work evening and weekend shifts as well as the occasional day shift. Open availability is preferred. You must be fluent in English, and permanently reside in the Clarkson or Lorne Park area. Prior experience dealing with the public in a retail environment would be an asset but is not necessary. The main responsibilities would include greeting and assisting customers, answering the telephone in a courteous and helpful manner, handling customer transactions by operating the cash register, stocking and maintaining the store shelves, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and counting/filling prescriptions. Other job duties include keeping the store well-maintained and clean, identifying merchandise close to expiration, counting the money in the cash drawer, and processing items.

- Answer customer inquiries in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Refer customer questions of a medical nature or any complaints to the pharmacist or store manager
- Answer the telephone in a timely, friendly and polite manner. Referring calls to the correct store personnel or take messages if appropriate.
- Reconcile cash register at the beginning and end of the shift.
- Operating the cash register efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure the appearance of the store meets the requirements of the owner and store manager and is favourable to the customer, including all housekeeping tasks.
- Keeping cash register areas clean and sanitized including cash counters, debit machines, shopping carts and baskets, door handles, doors and windows.
- Stock store shelves with merchandise when it is delivered to the store.
- Identify merchandise which is close to expiration date and removing it from the shelves of the store.
- Put up signs that will identify items on sale including weekly or monthly specials and take down the signage when such sale is over.
- Assist with changes and price markdowns for merchandise on the shelves.
- Complete any assigned inventory counts.
