**About the position**:
- Reporting to the Branch Director and/or her delegate, and working with classroom educators and teachers, you will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting teachers
- Helping teachers prep activities and materials that support lesson plans;
posting on the bulletinboards
- Participating in lessons, outings and field trips as needed
- Supervising, engaging, guiding and providing in-class support to students alone or in groups as required by the teacher
- Discuss with the teacher the planning of the day, the flow of activities and share your observations of the students
- Supervising and helping students during snack, lunch, bathroom, nap and recess time;
getting ready before and after recess - clothes, shoes, etc. (Ability to bend, crouch, kneel)
- Supervising recesses and accompanying classes to the ravine as needed.
- Helping maintain a tidy, clean, healthy, safe and secure environment;
monitoring students re.allergies (food, hand washing, etc.)
- Monitoring student behavior and using positive discipline
- Replacing in classrooms during meetings or teacher's / educator’s absences/ breaks.
- Using appropriate language (reinforce French language) and interactions, modeling positive behavior
- Maintaining a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders
- Performing other related duties as assigned
**Who we are looking for**:
- Excellent French skills (oral and written), Native speaker would be an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience with children (pre-school, primary)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, respectful and diplomatic communication skills with students, parents and staff
- Strong work ethic and effective time management skills
- Independent and reliable team player, flexible with the ability to work in a demanding environment and to transition easily depending on the situation
- Proven effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Discretion
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification would be an asset
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification would be an asset
