**Duties**:
The Personnel Security Screening Investigator provides comprehensive research and analysis focused on complex examinations, interviews, and investigations of various data. Findings enable the Senior Manager to provide a recommendation to the Senior Manager and/or the Departmental Security Officer.
The Personnel Security Screening Investigator's responsibilities are, but not limited to:
2. Receiving, assessing, conducting a search through all available databases, including open source information, and reports on the specific findings of each applicant submitted for security screening process.
3. Contacting the employers/academic institutions/references responsible for the substance of the information related to each applicant to elicit further insight and information. High risk findings or issues may require more extensive investigation.
4. Analyzing personal, protected, classified, and sensitive intelligence and other adverse information and makes recommendations to the Security Officer to approve or deny PPS Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret and Top-Secret Security Clearance to protect parliamentary facilities/assets (people, assets, and information) from insider threat, terrorist, organized crime, infiltration, theft, damage, espionage and other types of security breaches and violations.
5. Recommending appropriate action when security concerns are apparent following full review of given security screening files;
prepares communication and detailed case summaries for the Senior Manager and/or the Departmental Security Officer.

EDUCATION:
Post-Secondary diploma in a field related to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and Significant ** experience conducting law enforcement OR Personnel screening security investigations.
Recent* and Significant** experience writing analytical documents such as investigative reports and correspondence.
Experience identifying, interpreting and analyzing legal, technical, financial or policy issues.
Recent* and significant** experience conducting in depth analysis of investigative and administrative reports and related documents.
Experience analyzing reports/information from various sources to determine compliance to security policy, and/or regulation and/or legislation.
Significant** experience using databases for the purposes of gathering information for security investigations.
DEFINITIONS:
- Recent means within the past five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis for over a given period of two (2) years.
ASSETS:
Experience in conducting Open Source investigations.
Experience in the field of security screening within a governmental institution.
Experience as an investigator within a Law enforcement organization.

Knowledge of the personnel security screening process.
