FWS IS SEEKING A QUALITY ASSURANCE SITE MANAGER TO LEAD A TEAM OF QA STAFF TO OVERSEE CONSTRUCTION QUALITY DURING A THREE YEAR CONSTRUCTION OF A LARGE AG-INDUSTRIAL FOOD FACILITY. THIS IS A FULL-TIME STAFF POSITION, WE REGRET WE ARE NOT SEEKING TO RETAIN A CONTRACTOR._

BASIC PURPOSE_**
Responsible to develop and oversee the project specific quality management system and manage the project QA staff.
**_KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES_**
- Ensure the quality requirements of FWS and the client are understood by the construction team and are being delivered.
- Review and understand the project quality plans, specifications, drawings and scope, etc.
- Make amendments as required to the Project Specific Quality Plan and site quality documentation.
- Liaise with contractors and subtrades prior to work starting with a view to reviewing ITP’s and establishing hold / witness points per project and client requirements.
- Monitor and periodically audit contractors and subtrades to ensure procedures are maintained.
- Collect data from QA staff regarding contractor progress and quality performance.
- Manage a team of QA field staff to ensure the owner’s interests are represented. Ensure Field Quality staff are participating in the following activities:
- Understanding each contractor’s scope of work.
- Reviewing quality plans and ITP’s from contractors.
- Verifying that contractors follow their ITP’s and are signing ITP’s where appropriate.
- Maintaining a punch list and ensuring each item is addressed.
- Participating in periodic and final inspection on behalf of the owner.
- Collecting and filing records that pertain to completed work for the client turnover package.
- Coordinating with AHJ regarding witness points as applicable.
- Ensuring hydro tests are witnessed and that applicable AHJ forms are completed &
signed.
- Ensuring RFI’s, non-conforming work and associated remedial actions are documented and communicated.
- Completing Daily Progress Reports / tracking logs.
- Ensure contractors are providing progress data, percent complete, milestones etcperiodically verify.
- Participating in the six-week look ahead &
weekly work planning sessions.
- Participate in the development, implementation and management of the project specific quality management system within a Construction Management Environment.
- Develop and maintain quality documents and trackers for the project to ensure the requirements of the Project Specific Quality Plan and the Project Execution Plan are delivered on.
- Participate in the creation of procedures for common tasks and activities.
- Provide technical support to Site Superintendents, Quality Control personnel and the Project Management Team. Participate in site meetings as required and offer expertise.
- Any other duties as directed by the CM Superintendent or QA/QC management.
- Participate in Field Quality staff duties personally when necessary.
**_QUALIFICATIONS_**
- Minimum five years construction quality assurance experience in a construction management environment, in disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and piping.
- Experience managing staff.
- A working knowledge of provincial guidelines / regulations / codes of construction.
- Diploma in Engineering technology, or relevant qualifications and experience.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, clients, and suppliers.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, including piping isometrics.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle criticism and diffuse confrontational situations.
- Proficient with computer programs from Microsoft and Autodesk.
- The following would be an asset but are not mandatory:
- Welding qualifications such as CWB Welding Supervisor or CWB Level 1 or Level 2 Welding Inspector.
- Experience coordinating 3rd party testing and inspection. I.E. pressure tests, NDE contractors, PWHT contractor etc.
- Experience interpreting Weld Procedures Specifications &
Weld Procedure Data Sheets.
**_OTHER INFORMATION_**
- This position is located in a construction site office.
- This is rotation work of 3wks on, 1wk off.
- Mileage and LOA will apply, if applicable.
- Night shift work on a construction site required very occasionally.
- Must be fit for work, in good health, may be required to pass drug and alcohol screening.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle packages / materials up to 50lb. weight, unassisted.
