McEwen Mining Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina. RefinerReporting to the Chief metallurgist, the Refiner is responsible ensuring the safe, secure, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the refinery to meet or exceed safety, production, and cost targets, while ensuring environmental compliance. They will interact with Mill employees, supervisors, coordinators, managers and JHSEC. They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge of and dedication to safety and production methods. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.Operational Planning &
Technical ExecutionMonitor control screens, solve / report issues, and variances.Inspect and check all systems, tools, and equipment daily to ensure effective operation, minimize and correct safety hazards.Gold Room:
load and unload the retort, mix reagents for smelting, pour, and prep the gold for shipment.Perform diagnostic testing on various development ores to determine various process design criteria such as – projected/potential plant throughput, energy consumption, optimal metallurgical recovery, reagent requirements, and environmental impacts.Conduct weekly refinery clean outs and pours as per schedule.General Administration and ControlsMaintain a clean work environment free of hazards, maintaining high standards, submitting work requests to maintenance as needed.Complete and submit documentation of lot and pour numbers, shift reports, and metal weights.Participate in daily schedule compliance meetings, weekly safety meetings, and other staff meetings as required.Carry out routine reporting and administrative duties as required. Qualifications and Skills Requirement:
Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.Strong verbal and written communication skills to propagate technical information within a team environment while ensuring duties are performed in a safe and responsible manner.Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and schedule activities.Demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills.Strong problem-solving skills while working under pressure requiring immediate response to issues.Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments/roles.Ability to work independently or within a team environment.Highly motivated professional with intent to become part of the McEwen Mill team supporting the Safety and the Milling processes.Knowledge and experience with computers, information systems and software’s/programs.Previous experience with testing equipmentMilling experience and familiarity with mill circuits is considered an asset.Experience in a Metallurgical Technician role and or leadership role is considered an asset.Degree or Technical Diploma in Mineral Processing or Metallurgy or 5 years’ experience in refining/assaying or gold milling environment.Basic Mill Process Operator Common Core.Valid First Aid Certificate considered an asset.
