Rpn/Lpn - Cadet Camp

Perform within defined scope of practice in accordance with the regulatory organization in the province of work;
Perform triage assessment during walk-in hours and patient assessments that include medical or incident history, physical examinations;
Perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, and conducting specimen collection;
Develop a nursing care plan based on the result of the assessment and refer to a physician or other health care provider;
Administer medication as per doctor’s order as per provincial scope of practice and observe and document therapeutic effects;
Complete nursing documentation immediately after each patient interaction;
Communicate any changes or abnormal findings of the patient’s status or condition to the senior clinician. Abnormal is defined as any deviation to the norm, average, or expected;
Perform therapeuticprocedures such as injections and wound care;
Administer and monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy;
Monitor patient’s progress and evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions;
Provide health education to patients;
Perform administrative tasks including written or telephone responses to patient queries, preparation of medical files for physicians or other health care providers, and to return of medical files to health record department;
Assist physicians or other health care providers with treatments and procedures;
Act as the point ofcontact for the care coordination and preparation of responses, information requests, and patient inquiries in the specialty clinic;
Monitor all medicalsupplies and inventory including ordering and replenishing;
Clean all patient care areas between patients;
Clean, sterilize and package surgical instruments;
Other associated tasks relevant to this occupational group;
Adhere to Bayshore policies and procedures;
Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System;
Participates in proactive Health &
Safety activities whileperforming all duties. Is responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health &
Safety risks or concerns. Responsible for completing Accident Reports for all direct reports who injure themselves on the job, within 24 hours of the incident;
and,
Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel.
Job Qualification
All Cadet Camp Licensed/Registered Practical Nurses must, as a minimum, have:
Education:
Graduated from a Practical Nursing Program approved by Council of the College of Nurses;
A license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice;
A current Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C or HCP;
Must successfully complete the Reliability Status Check (RS) ;
and
Must successfulcomplete the Police Records Check (PRC)/Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) process. These documents are mandatory and necessary as you will be working with youth.
Experience:
All RPNs or LPNs must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in conducting patient assessment and direct nursing care of a broad range of diseases for both adult and child population in a primary care or ambulatory care setting.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Current N95 mask fit certificate (every two (2) years)
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) Certification (every two (2) years)
