**General Accountability**:
- Reporting to the Director - Employee Development, this position designs, develops, co-ordinates, implements, delivers and evaluates safety training workshops and programs to supervisors, Joint Health &
Safety (JHSC) members and other staff employees. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that the training programs support the Safety, Health &
Environment Management System, and corporate safety initiatives.**Key Job Functions**:
- Design, co-ordinate, implement, deliver, and evaluate training courses and other development programs on incident investigation, hazard/risk assessment, job observation, Joint Health and Safety, safety communication and general awareness related issues
- Identifies and analyzes training needs and problem areas through surveys, interviews, focus groups and other forms of data collection
- Develops and provides one-on-one customized counselling and/or training for employees, as required;
- Defines course objectives and outcomes
- Designs safety training programs by identifying appropriate course content and selects the most effective training methodologies/program format
- Researches, develops and/or procures appropriate training materials and teaching aids to be used during program delivery
- Plans, co-ordinates and facilitates the section's on-going safety training programs, including Management Essentials.
- Provides advice and guidance to supervisors, and managers in other departments regarding their safety training and development needs
- Develops evaluations for program participants
- Prepares training proposals and strategies, pilots/tests new or revised programs and evaluates course content and effectiveness
- Customizes procured training materials to meet the specific needs of the TTC
- Follows up, as required, with any problems and ensures implementation of action plans/solutions
- Instructs, facilitates or arranges for other qualified instructors/content experts
- Follows up, as required, with management of client departments
- Researches the availability of external training resources (organizations/consultants) in response to safety training requests from other departments
- Provides cross-training and coaching to other trainers for backfill and job sharing purposes;
- Assists with the administration of other programs of the section
- Facilitates specialized seminars and/or presentations on various safety related themes in response to requests from departments
- Assists the Director - Employee Development with the establishment of the section’s business plan and operating budget;
- Substitutes for the Director

- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.

**Education and Experience**:
- Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Occupational Health &
Safety, and/or the equivalent, combined with several years of directly related and progressively senior work experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience related to the techniques and methodologies of training needs assessment and program design, delivery and evaluation.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health &
Safety Act and associated regulations and familiarity with specific health and safety programs (ie. incident investigation, workplace inspection and hazard/risk assessment).
- Good knowledge of management, supervisory, personal and professional development knowledge, principles and practices.
- Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills and good written
