Under the direction of the Parks Superintendent, these positions will be responsible for maintenance in City Parks and/or a variety of tasks within the three City Cemeteries, which includes Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Burial Park and Hillcrest Cemetery. During the winter months, Seasonal Labourers are assigned to Outdoor Rink Maintenance.
Basic Requirements:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Motor Vehicle Operators License;
Willingness to become Safe Places Youth Certified;
Assist with Interment opening/closings. Casket and Cremation. Ability to perform all duties related to opening and closing of graves;
Map reading for locating Cemetery lots;
Speak with bereaved
Families and answer inquiries from the public about the Cemeteries.
Able to operate small gas engines - powered equipment (e.G., tamper, grass trimmer, backpack blower);
Operate riding mowers, 1-ton trucks, and side by side utility vehicles;
Assist with Pesticide Application;
The ability to lift50 lbs;
Able to perform outside physical labour in all weather conditions;
Able to work alone or with a crew;
Able to work weekends and after regular operating hours;
and
Ability to be punctual and report to work on a regular basis.
Desirable Requirements:
Previous Parks &
Cemetery experience;
Previous experience operating riding grass cutting equipment, backhoes and excavators;
Occupational Healthand Safety Training;
PME Excavator;
Horticulture experience;
Pruning/Tree Maintenance experience;
and
Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicators License class 3.
