Senior Backend Software Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to our CEO, the Backend Software Engineer will build tech from day one that’s immediately deployed in the real world. Imagine being able to tell your friends and family that you helped put some of the first robots on sidewalks! We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to help us build software to manage and pilot our fleet of robots and dispatch orders. Most of the backend services are written in Go and they handle things like dispatching, routing, capacity planning, ETA calculations, etc.At Tiny Mile, we’re a small but mighty team. Our Engineers create systems, tools and processes that increase productivity and work as a multiplier for the entire organization. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take features from concept to shipping.Why it MattersLast-mile is the highest polluting segment. Given the continuous rise of e-commerce, it is expected the total carbon emissions will increase 30% by 2030 because of the last-mile. Our robots not only have zero emissions but use as little electricity as a light bulb.People spend on average 10 hours running errands, going grocery, etc each week. If delivery was reliable, instantaneous and cost cents it would free people from carrying these tasks. If there are 2.93 million people in Toronto, we would be giving back 29.3 million hours to people to spend with their families or what they care about.Imagine a small bookstore be able to deliver their books for cents, to the entire city in half an hour or less.
