Allstate Canada Group (ACG) is looking for a Senior Counsel, Contracts &
Technology to join its Law &
Regulation Department. Reporting to the Manager, Innovation Law, this lawyer will be required to provide proactive, timely and strategic legal advice to senior business leaders and their teams, and will handle a broad range of legal, insurance, contract and technology related matters.You will directly support contract and procurement efforts across the business, offering key support to the Claims and Vendor Management functions, and collaborate on third party supplier risk management. You will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of corporate projects across ACG and collaborate with other areas of the Law &
Regulation Department.Successful candidates for this role will have significant experience in contract review, drafting and negotiation, and knowledge of technology and commercial law, intellectual property, privacy laws, and data security and protection. Knowledge of insurance legal and regulatory environment would be considered an asset.Accountabilities:
Provide counsel on day-to-day operational and legal matters and support various corporate projects.Support contracting and procurement efforts across ACG, specifically providing legal expertise on simple to complex procurement and contract issuesSupport development and implementation of proactive strategies and processes for vendor management to mitigate or better plan for risk and liabilityDraft, review and negotiate contracts, MOU’s, non-disclosure agreements, partnership and sponsorship agreements, and various legal documentsDevelop and maintain various contract templates and revisionsWork with Privacy Counsel to develop privacy and data security standards and indemnities to protect ACG from incident and breach riskLegal point of contact for Procurement functionLegal support for new vendor and technology contracts, including associated third party supplier risk assessments and asset risk profilesWork collaboratively with ACG’s affiliate companies on legal and regulatory risks and contract review and implementationQualifications:
5+ years of Corporate Law, including Technology Law experienceLicensed to practice law in OntarioAbility to lead and build relationships across multiple areas of the businessContinuous improvement mindsetAbility to communicate effectively with stakeholders and navigate competing priorities and agendas successfullyStrong computer skills including knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)Allstate Canada Group has policies and practices that provide workplace accommodations.
