(KUFPEC) is the Canadian subsidiary of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company K.S.C.C. which is an international upstream company, engaged in exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas outside of Kuwait.KUFPEC has a 30% working interest of the Kaybob Duvernay shale play which covers more than 300,000 acres of land in Alberta, Canada. The Kaybob project is the first onshore unconventional liquid rich tight gas asset that KUFPEC holds. Chevron is the operator of 98% of the acreage and the other 2% are operated by Crescent Point and Whitecap Resources.Job Summary:
Internally, this position is called Senior Petroleum Engineer. Reporting to the Development &
Operations Manager, theSenior Petroleum Engineer will provide reservoir engineering expertise in the Duvernay (and/or North America) Unconventional shale plays for optimizing the performance of assigned assets through the appropriate development, acquisition and/or divestment with the aim of maximizing asset profitability.Accountabilities:
Perform type curve analysis/updates, forecast production volumes, and ensure effective reserves evaluation, classification and booking according to PRMS and COGEH normative. Defend assessments at Peer Reviews, Reserves &
Resources Management Committee meetings and to executive management.Maintain reserves/resources in the reserve data base system for the assigned assets and ensure regular and effective execution of periodic reserve audits;
Prepare and present reserves and resources reports (mid-year and year-end) for the assigned asset.Review and analyze results of various reservoir engineering studies for dedicated assets to identify and/or optimize field and/or additional development plans;
Evaluate as part of a multi-disciplinary team acquisition opportunities and the economic value of the same;
Analyze reservoir and well performance data and develop/supervise reservoir surveillance programs and reservoir management activities;
Optimize production and recovery using data acquisition, interpretation and analysis as well as techniques such as static and dynamic modelling;
Perform periodic technical audits for KUFPEC’s assets to optimize hydrocarbon recovery. Develop, in-conjunction with Geologists, accurate and usable reservoir description to estimate reserves;
Represent KUFPEC at Technical Committee meetings, workshops, farm out presentations and industry technical conferences to ensure that KUFPEC strategic, technical and financial aims are met;
Critically evaluate operator reservoir studies and ensure that the operator will consider and objectively respond to KUFPEC’s proposals.Participate in Corporate Peer Reviews to support the quality and consistency of technical work;
Support in the preparation of annual budget and five-year plan;
Prepare presentations, reports and technical materials needed for RBA (Request for Board Approval);
Provide on the job coaching and mentoring to help develop capabilities of team members to enable them to grow technically and perform their job effectively and efficiently.Requirements:
Minimum 10-15 years of reservoir engineering experience with operating E&
P company;
Reservoirengineering experience in the Western Canada Duvernay resource and/or North American Unconventional Shale Gas assets is a key requirement;
Proficiency in Harmony Reservoir/Forecast Network reservoir analysis software (or equivalent software) is a key requirement;
Working experience with AccuMap (or geoSCOUT) and Microsoft Suites is a key requirement;
Demonstrable experience of Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) and optimization (Petroleum Expert Suites);
Demonstrable experience of reserve booking (PRMS and COGEH);
Demonstrable experience in economic evaluation (Merak PEEP) is an assetKnowledge of mineral rights ownership in Alberta;
Knowledge of well completions, optimization, and field development;
Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent discipline;
Professional Engineer designation with APEGA;
Strong communication andlistening skills;
High degree of professionalism, with a confident, assertive style;
Team oriented, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic working relationship;
Ability to deal effectively with all types of people, build and maintain supportive relationships with key business contacts.Pay:
$170,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
