Business Law**
This course provides an introduction to Canadian legal institutions and processes. Topics will include:
the judicial system, law making, contracts, torts and civil liability, constitutional and administrative law, and criminal law.
The Summer 2024 semester class period is from July 2, 2024 to August 15, 2024 with the final exam period running from August 19, 2024 to August 22, 2024. Maximum enrollment for this course is 68 and a Teacher Assistant may be provided if requested and available.
Sessional Lecturers that are teaching hyflex classes are expected to teach 26 synchronous classes throughout the semester in person on campus. As a hyflex, this course is set up to allow students to attend on-site or attend remotely over Zoom with a level of flexibility on how they would like to attend each week.
Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:
- Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades on time;
- Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines;
- Delivering 26 75-minute lectures throughout the semester (unless otherwise discussed with the Associate Dean);
- Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment;
- Providing regularsupport to students on course work as required before and after each class, during office hours, and as required by students;
- Meeting all submission deadlines as outlined by the Hill School of Business;
- Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student-related matters as needed;
and
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
- Superior communication skills (both written and verbal);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with respect to academic reporting;
and
- Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment considered an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours
This course is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:
30 p.M. to 8:
15 p.M. (which equates to four 75-minute lectures per week, two on each day of class with a 15-minute break in between). The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus for each of the 26 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
