Part-time Adapted Sports Coach needed!
We are looking to hire an athletic, high energy individual for roughly 6-10 hours a week. You will be working one-on-one with children who have developmental disabilities (a lot of our clientele have ASD) at their house, nearby park, or rec centre.
You will be responsible for helping them with fundamental movement skills through sports, using your sports/physical activity knowledge. Sessions are two hours long, and your hours will depend on clients available as well as your hours of work that you are available for. We are a small business in the process of expanding and do have limited hours. Although we are currently looking for someone for Part-time work, there is plenty of room for growth with our company, as we are growing!
About Adapted Sports Development:
Our service provides a personalized physical activity service for individuals with disabilities. We will assess, create, and implement a physical activity program in coordination with the family's preferences and ideals. We work with many different types of disabilities, both physical and intellectual, as well as ASD.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life through active involvement working on athletic skill sets and movements. By motivating and inspiring others to be the best version of themselves, the goal is to instill confidence, and enhance self-esteem to overcome obstacles.
**Requirements**:
- Must have experience working with youth who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental/physical disabilities.
- Physical strength (you may be required to prompt the client to assist with physical needs)
- A valid BC Driver's license or equivalent
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)you will be required to write session notes after each session to the parentdebriefing with the parents/guardian of how the session wentother languages are an asset!- Eligible to work in Canada
- Must pass a criminal background check(will be reimbursed after 25 hours of employment)
- Comfortable with a variety of sports and be able to coach the basics of them.You will receive training, as well as on-going support
- Works well in a team but is also a self-starter who works well independently
- Is safety-mindedWhenever dealing with children, safety is a MUST
- Has an energetic, creative, and positive personality! Motivating the client and coming up with strategies to make the task successful.
