The Oakville Chinese Network Society is a non-profit organization rooted in the Oakville Chinese community, run by a number of volunteers who are passionate about their work in social and public services. We aim at becoming the voice of the local Chinese community, promoting Chinese traditional culture and participating in various multicultural and social activities.
OCN is currently seeking 1 experienced **Strategic Volunteer Management Consultant** to provide expert support **in consulting and facilitating the process of volunteer management within the organization, in the following areas**:
- **volunteer recruitment and training**:
- **volunteer engagement and retention**:
- **volunteer diversity and inclusiveness**:
- **volunteer mentoring and guidance**:
- **Volunteer coordination**
**The Strategic Volunteer Management Consultant is expected to**:
- Conduct an internal analysis on OCN approach to volunteering.
- Review OCN volunteer management policies and strategies and if necessary, suggest changes for improvement.
- Work with OCN President, Board of Directors, Management and staff, to identify how to put best volunteering practices in place.
- Design and propose a short-term and a long-term volunteering strategy, making sure it addresses the challenges and complexity of the post pandemic world around us and sets OCN up to succeed.
- Work with OCN Management team to consider key steps for developing more inclusive, diverse and equitable volunteering practice.
- Introduce measurable volunteer impact monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Establish a program of training topics on volunteer management which can be delivered in house and meets the unique and specific needs of OCN.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Diploma in the field of NGO Project and Program Management, Business Management or Leadership, Public Relations, Communications, Sociology, or another relevant field.
- Experience working in the voluntary and community sector, holding a variety of strategic development and senior management roles that have focused on leading and engaging volunteers.
- Minimum of 2-year professional work experience on managing a volunteer program for a non-profit organization or international development agency.
- Strong analytical skills. Sound accuracy and logic.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written. As this position requires working with OCN team and management, as well as volunteers and clients, it’s important that the Strategic Volunteer Management Consultant communicates clearly with all team members and fully understands the client’s needs.
- Clear written skills are necessary to write understandable strategic policies documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is a must
