The Business Communications market is rapidly evolving and increasingly competitive. A critical success factor in our transformation is the ability to make smart decisions on how we can improve profitability, where to invest and where to deselect. The mandate of the Cost Management team will be to deeply understand the profitability and efficiency of TELUS Business Solutions (TBS) across all products, market segments, customers and functional areas and use these insights to lead improvement programs and guide operational cost management.
**Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together**
You will be part of a broader organization responsible for TBS strategy and enablement. As a Strategy Manager (Cost Management), you will function as an “internal consultant” focused on improving TBS profitability and operational cost (opex) management. You will support efforts to evolve the TBS profitability cost model, develop analysis and insights from this model, collaborate with teams across our business to implement profitability improvement programs. You will also support the assessment and executive reporting related to profitability.
As part of cost management, you will conduct assessments to inform our decision on where to make investments, how to mitigate risks and where to deselections related to TBS opex. You will assist in annual opex budget planning, allocations and target setting.
**Here’s how**
- Profitability cost model - work with finance, business intelligence and TBS stakeholders to update the costs model data and assumptions (annually). Recommend changes to model as products, organization and focus areas evolve
- Profitability improvement programs - support analysis to identify improvement areas. Work with TBS stakeholders to develop actions/targets. Monitor and report on progress on improvements
- Profitability reporting - support governance, communications and reporting on profitability
- Opex planning - assist in the annual opex budget planning process. Collaborate with finance to assess past trends and go forward assumptions. Complete analysis to inform decision making and planning on areas of investment and deselection
- Opex risk management - work with the finance team to monitor opex risks during the year. Work with TBS teams to develop mitigation plans to address risks and capture new opportunities
- Strategic planning support - prepare business and market assessments and assist in creating executive presentation in support of the broader TBS strategic planning process
**Qualifications**:
**Your ideal profile includes**
- Demonstrated experience conducting assessments leveraging strong analytical skills, data driven insights, and attention to detail
- Experience developing and managing projects and multiple work streams
- Good understanding of a wide range business-to-business (B2B) environments from SMB to Enterprise and Public Sector
- Familiarity with high tech products and services - Data Economy, IoT Solutions, SaaS, Cloud, IT/Network HW, SW, Managed Services
- Known for being results driven, with a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to make decisions and solve complex problems
- Expert at working well in a cross-functional team environment to collaborate on deliverables
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with senior leaders
**Professional certifications and experience**
- 2+ years of progressive experience in technology/telecommunications industry
- Post-secondary degree in a Business or Technology discipline
- MBA is an asset
- Diversity of past experiences is considered an asset
