This posting is for 1 Permanent, Full-time position
The Telecommunications Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the Important Company Municipal Operations Communication Centre MOCC. This includes direct leadership and supervision of operational staff, interaction with clients, ensuring all County and RCMP policies and procedures are followed. As a working Supervisor, you will be responding to incoming telephone calls, complaint lines and administrative lines for the RCMP and Enforcement Services.
**Responsibilities**:
Provide leadership, direction, guidance and development for a strong operational unit of Telecommunications Operators to support operations for the RCMP
Recruitment, orientation, scheduling and performance reviews
Provide first response to incoming emergency lines, complaint lines, administrative and Enforcement Services lines, prioritizing and dispatching appropriate response in the order of emergent importance
Receive, dispatch and prepare files for RCMP and Enforcement Services
Regular dispatching duties to support daily operations as a working supervisor
Generate and process information in a clear and accurate manner
Data Entry into RCMP/Enforcement Services data bases;
store, retrieve and purge files as per retention standards
Develop and manage unit?s cost centre budget working with department accountant and Operations Support Supervisor
Complete performance appraisals. Mentor and address disciplinary issues
Monitor and audit all incoming and outgoing police radio transmissions and PROS/CIIDS entries
Provide monthly statistical reporting to Operations Support Supervisor
Administration and management of payroll/time entry for all staff within the unit
Manage public risk and officer safety
Ensure the unit is organized, structured and staffed appropriately to meet its goals
Ensure the performance and accountability of staff
Skills and Abilities
Experience in supervision, team building and leadership
Understand RCMP policies and procedures, including criminal code, federaland provincial statutes, municipal bylaws, and the Canadian legal system and court documents
Knowledge of Important Company procedures an asset
Strong team building, strategic planning and management skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written including negotiation skills
Effective listening skills, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong stress management and the ability to think and act quickly under high pressure situations
Time management skills including ability to multitask, prioritize incoming and outgoing information, coupled with good judgement
**Qualifications**:
Minimum of a diploma in a related field, plus 5 years of experience in a police related environment
Additional education such as a certificate in Emergency Communications and Response would be considered an asset
As a working supervisor current within 2 years CIIDS dispatch experience is required
Recognized supervisory development training and extensive supervisory experience
Strong understanding of RCMP policies and procedures
Must be able to obtain a Reliability Enhanced Security Clearance
PROS End User and IM certified with excellent operational and administrative proficiency to review and audit files
CPIC maintenance certified
Proficient computer skills using PROS, CPIC, ROADS, JOIN, CIIDS, Report Exec
